The Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library provides free wireless access within the Library’s premises. The use of personal laptops, PDAs, and other mobile Internet devices can be used to gain connectivity to the Library’s wireless network without a network jack.
Books On Wheels
This service is for persons who are unable to obtain library materials on their own or with family assistance. This is a valuable service for seniors or individuals who may be recovering from surgery or illness. Deliveries are made on a bi-weekly basis and can be used for short term situations or long term arrangements. Adaptive Technology Work Station
For people with a visual impairment:
- ZoomText Screen Magnifier enlarges everything on the computer screen up to 36 times its normal size.
- JAWS is screen reading software that reads aloud the information shown on the screen.
For people with a reading or language struggle and/or a visual impairment:
- Kurzweil 1000 / Kurzweil 3000 is scanning, reading, writing and learning software. It works with a flatbed scanner to allow scanned-in text to be converted to speech and read back to the user.
